What keeps small business owners and entrepreneurs awake at night?
I am interested in knowing the top concerns of small business owners and entrepreneurs. What worries you at 3am? What excites you so much that you can’t sleep? What keeps you awake – for positive or negative reasons?
As the owner of a small business drywall company i can tell you that this month, the positive thing that keeps me up at night is the checks i just received. However, next month the negative thing that keeps me up at night is the checks i didn’t receive.

I am just a small business bookkeeper. What keeps my clients awake at night? Mostly negative. "I’m not getting enough business this month, how am I am going to pay the bills?" Stuff like that.
Increasing taxes are a concern for small business owners as well.
They also get to pay their own way for health insurance and such – that’s part of being self-employed. Forget about unemployment benefits too. If business dries up – you’re (blanked). If you become disabled, you’re (blanked). When and if you retire, you’re (blanked) unless you paid all the proper taxes during your ‘career’.
Self-employment is actually quite a risky thing.
