I think adding a shrill beep every 15 seconds might have helped in waking me up. Also flashing a picture of a gun every now and then would help in reminding me of the potential option of shooting myself for having listened to something so awfully boring.

There are many reasons why PMs do not use EVM. Some believe that tracking effort hours at a detail level is the only way…there are others including using an approximation with % cpt. The real problem is that many PMs believe its effort tracking or nothing!

As this video shows, EVM is 5th grade math. So it’s amazing how many PMPs still can’t implement it. Why? Because they don’t exercise the discipline to establish the data and processes necessary to have a defined PV, an EV accrual method, and regularly loading of AC to the WBS. Passing the PMP exam is not the challenge. It’s getting project teams to spend the effort to run the system.
